Vannin Watches and the Isle of Man
Vannin is an independent Manx watch microbrand created on the Isle of Man by Peter Jones and Andy Pickett. Its first collection is the Vannin Field Watch, with names and dial colours connected to the island’s landscape and weather.
Being a Manx brand describes Vannin’s identity and its relationship with the island. Confirmed component origins, assembly and quality-control information will be published when those details are finalised rather than being presented as facts prematurely.
An Island with an Extraordinary Watchmaking Story
John Harwood established a watch-repair business on the Isle of Man in the 1920s and developed an early self-winding wristwatch there. George Daniels later worked independently on the island and developed the co-axial escapement. Roger W. Smith, who trained with Daniels, continues to make watches in his Isle of Man workshop using the Daniels Method.
Vannin does not claim this historic work as its own. Its accessible modern microbrand journey belongs to a different part of horology, while respecting the island’s continuing association with independent watchmaking.
